New home of the
WEST SEATTLE HIGH SCHOOL

At the June 5, 2025 Monogram Club luncheon at the West Seattle Golf Course,
new officers were elected and long-serving club president Ted Foss was honored with the title President Emeritus.

Over the summer 2025, our former club website will be redesigned and moved to this new domain.

Check back to see what's new and we hope to see many of you at upcoming club luncheons.

History and Purpose:

The Monogram Club was organized in 1965 and has been in continuous operation since then.  Our purposes are:

(1) To establish a scholarship fund to assist qualified West Seattle High School seniors in pursuit of a higher education.

(2) To perpetuate friendships made while in high school in athletic competition.

(3) To reunite members in good fellowship at "Dutch" luncheons on the first Thursdays of February,  June, October, and December.

Membership:

Membership in the West Seattle High School Monogram Club is open to any and all varsity athletes who earned their W letters at least forty years ago.  West Seattle coaches with five years of service are also invited to join.  Women athletes are especially encouraged to join the Club, as Title IX was enacted into law in summer 1972 and many more sports were opened to women.

Meetings:

The Monogram Club meets at the West Seattle Golf Course clubhouse on the first Thursday each February, June, October, and December.

Our upcoming meetings in 2025 are October 2 and December 4, and in 2026, February 5,  June 4, October 1, and December 3.  Please RSVP in advance with Dick Sleight.

Scholarships:

Hundreds of West Seattle High School student-athletes, young men and women, have received scholarships from the Monogram Club.  Each of these athletic and academic scholarship recipients were screened by both coaches and the Monogram Club scholarship committee.

Vital to these efforts are our members who live outside of the Seattle area in communities across the nation. They continue to provide generous support for our purpose.  We give special thanks for those who cannot attend our periodic meetings yet support us with their monetary gifts.

All membership dues go toward these scholarships. Funds for the internal operation of the Club come from a raffle held at each of our luncheons and from donations.
